First you make progesterone after you ovulate, if you get pregnant it keeps going up pretty much the whole pregnancy, it goes up because you are making pregnancy hormone, if you don't get pregnant it comes down and this is what gives you your period, progesterone coming down. We often check a progesterone to see if someone has ovulated. It then can come down or stay up if you are pregnant, making pregnacy hormone it stays up if it comes down you get a period. I wouldn't thing of it as a test for pregnancy.
The goal of
clomid is to make one follicle, if it takes 50 use 50, if it take 100 use 100, if it takes 150 use 150, not to much efficacy in going higher than 150. What ever it takes to make one good follicle, if you make more great, but that is all we are going for.
IUI - Intrauterine Insemination, a semen sample is collected and given to the physician and they wash it ( think of the cervical mucous as washing the sperm as the swim thru it). The sperm are placed in a catheter and the catheter is passed thru the cervix and the sperm are placed at the top of the uerus.
With intercours the sperm or in the vagina and about 90% can't get passed the cervical mucous, thus the IUI, gets pass the cervical mucous, just remember to wash it.
HOPE THIS HELPS
