Endometrial Biopsy or Lapraroscopic

Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I had my consultation appt for infertility last week. My doctor performed a sonogram and was not able to see one of my ovaries. So he has prescribed Endometrial Biopsy.
I have searched online and it seems that Lapraroscopic surgery is also done to diagnose E.
Has anyone had any of these procedures? Which procedure and why?
How was your experience?

TIA!

Hi!

I'm sorry for the delay in response--was very ill for awhile

It is fairly common to miss an ovary on a transabdominal scan.  The first thing I would do is a transvaginal ultrasound, and perhaps an MRI.  Most good sonographers can locate both ovaries on a transvaginal scan unless one has been removed.

An endometrial biopsy is not a good diagnostic test for endometriosis,  In fact, it is not commonly used in fertility evaluations unless a luteal phase abnormality is suspected.

Laparoscopic surgery can be used to locate ovaries and to diagnose endometriosis.  If I am going to perform laparoscopy, I usually also inject the tubes with dye to be certain that they are not blocked, since this can be done at the same time.

Since I don't know your whole story, its a bit difficult for me to follow the thought process here.

Hope this helps!

Hi Elaine
I'm really desperate for answers. Had laparatomy last September and tube removed due to ectopic preg. now I'm confused because the gynae who operated me said they removed right tube and results from the theatre say the left one was removed. Told that my option is to go for an HSG/dye test, just wondering if medical aid will cover it.Will this also help to see condition of the remaining tube and how soon after the tet can one conceive, does it improve fertility?
