Fertility odds for a late bloomer

Fertility odds for a late bloomer

I am a 26-year-old female. I read an article that said that 90% of womens eggs are gone by the time they are 30 years old, and the chance of convieving from 30 on decreases dramatically. My question is, I was a very  late bloomer and didn't get my period until I was 16. Do I have a few years extra on my female counterparts who developed normally? Or will most of my eggs be gone by 30 too? I already have pre-existing medical conditions that could hinder my ability to concieve (conceive) normally and if I do, miscarriages are a high risk for me, and I don't want to feel any extra pressure because of this article I read!

Here's the article: http://www.aolhealth.com/condition-center/pregnancy/womens-fertility-ovarian-eggs?icid=main|htmlws-main-w|dl3|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aolhealth.com%2Fcondition-center%2Fpregnancy%2Fwomens-fertility-ovarian-eggs

Hi!
The article is pretty accurate.  The good news is that there are hundreds of thousands of eggs to begin with, so there are still lots left by the time a woman reaches 30.  For most healthy women, fertility doesn't begin to decline drastically until about 35.  At that point the problem has really more to do with the fact that the eggs have had a lot of "wear and tear" during their 35 year life span, and are less likely to fertilize and more likely to be abnormal if they do.
If you do meet Mr Right, and are both prepared to start a family, don't delay any longer than necessary because your fertility really won't last forever.  But don't marry the next guy you meet just because of an article either--life is uncertain for all of us!
Good luck!
Dr B

I am 40 and just did IVF. I had 12 eggs from 19 follicules.  they managed to fertilize 2  due to the fact eggs were frozen for 2 months then fertilized.  so 26 is a perfect age

Hi Dr's! I'm new to this and I have a question, but before I get to it I have to tell a short story. When I was 7 years old I was raped by two guys that were 17 years old. Sad to say I didn't and havent told anyone til this day. And I was raped 4 more times between the ages of 15-17. I never went to the doctor to have them check out everything down there. I have had the normal check ups like getting tested for diseases and paps. Thank the Lord that everything comes back normal and healthy. I do have high blood pressure but thats another subject. Anyway, my ex and I tried to get pregnant while we were together and we were together for 5 years and tried for over 2years and nothing happen. Although, I thank the lord for that too! LOL Now, I'm in a very serious relationship with a wonderful guy who is 27 with no children and he wants 1. I am ready too. We been together for 2 years and been trying for 2months and Im a little worried that I probably can't get pregnant due to the rapes, especially the 1st rape. Please give any advice that could be of help. I'm willing to listen to all the possibilities. Is it possible to be damaged after being raped and unable to have children? Please help....Is my womb damaged? Was my motherhood taken from me much too soon?.. Im a 24 woman and Im worried....
