Has anybody else gotten multiple endometriomas while on follistim/gonal F?

Has anybody else gotten multiple endometriomas while on follistim/gonal F?

Lets see... I just finished up my 2nd IVF cycle. My R.E. up me on lupron, gonal f/follistim, & menopur.
I also have severe endometriosis. While on gonal f, with my 1st IVF cycle. I got 7 embryos & cysts.
With my 2nd cycle, my dosage of follistim was increased; as a result: I ended up getting 1 embryo which my dr. called "parthenogenisis"- the embryo divided itself & kept dividing & would end up dying.
Everything else that was found ended up being a cyst.
For my 2nd cycle, we thought that upping the dose of gonal f/follistim would produce more follicles/embryos, but... I ended up getting multiple endometriomas.
I thought I would have gotten a lot more embryos/follicles than just 1, with my 2nd cycle.

I"m wondering if there is anybody who did IVF, do you have endometriosis. Were you on Follistim/gonal f? did you get multiple endometriomas from the follistim/gonal f?

Any advice, suggestions, other people experiences would be great.
Thanks so much,
Bonnie

Dear Bonnie:
As you only described the number of embryos that you had, it would be important to know your follicular response (the number of follicles produced) during these cycles. Endometriosis (as well as the presence of endometriomas) can be a challenging situation during ovulation induction. Although there still is controversies, it appears to interfere with ovarian reserve and oocyte quality. As a result, the ovaries may repond differently form cycle to cycle. Having said that, most reproductive endocrinologists do not recommend removal of endometriomas because the risk of removing normal ovarian tissue during the surgery, and therefore compromising further the ovarian reserve. Moreover, it appears that surgery does not improve outcomes. Ovulation induction usually does not trigger the formation of new endometriomas, and it is usually possible to achieve some follicular development.
