Sexual intercourse - painful, and there is a very good reason for the 'year' definition - the reason being that after one year of trying 85% of couples are pregnant, and of the 15% still not pregnant after one year, over half get pregnant within the second year. Intrauterine growth restriction insemination (placement of sperm in the uterus). For women under age 35, my opinion is to give it the full year without any intervention - sometimes the drugs can actually have a negative effect on the ability to get pregnant by making the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) thinner than usual. On the other hand, they bring with them the risk of twins or even triplets, and the goal is not only to get pregnant, but to have a healthy pregnancy. Bottom line is that fertility drugs and insemination should be used if required, but I would recommend being sure they are required before using them - like all medications they have their pros and their cons. After a year of trying, the scale tips in favor of the pros outweighing the cons. Good luck!
Jenchic, I am also a newlywed and trying and frustrated like you. Everyone that has kids tells me to relax and have fun with my husband and it'll come. I know it's hard to do that when all your thoughts is about conceiving. I guess I'm not a good person to give advice since I need it so badly. I pray a lot and hope that helps. I will pray for everyone in this forum.
