High prolactin

Hi,

I went for fertility test and it came back that i have high prolactin. I was wondering does past abortion (15 years ago) related to this? I have no breast milk discharge and my period is quite regular. My MRI scan also came back normal.

The high prolactin level is most likely completely unrelated to your history of having an abortion.  Having one pregnancy termination is extremely common, and very unlikely to cause any future problems.  The high prolactin level could be causing your current infertility though.  Its great that your MRI was normal.  I hope that your doctor also did a thyroid test, abnormal thyroid function can cause elevated prolactin.  PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) can also cause elevated prolactin.  There are several good medications to  lower your level, and taking a low dose of something such as Parlodel could help your fertility.
