How to change ovulation timing?

How to change ovulation timing?

I need to adjust my ovulation time, as difficult as that may seem - I have read that it can be done with birth control pills.

I see my husband (serving overseas) who will be on leave for two weeks from the 15/7/11 and ideally we would like to try for our 3rd child; however my cycle is all out of sync lessening our chances to conceive during his leave!

I had an IUD removed on 22/3/11 and have just started my menstrual cycle 15/4/11. My cycles were not consistent when I had the IUD in - so it is difficult to know how long my cycles are or to pinpoint when I was ovulating.

I will be checking to see how long this current cycle is, along with BBT and Ovulation tests (saliva tests) to help pinpoint my approximate ovulation time.

We would really appreciate your expertise in trying to manipulate my ovulation/menstrual cycle with birth control pills, so that I am ovulating in and around the 15/7/11 or shortly thereafter.

Thank you :o)

Hi!
On possible way to do this might be the following:  (this of course would have NO guarantees).  Start oral contraceptives on April 17th or May 15th (regardless of you natural cycle). Continue them until July 3. If I have calculated correctly, you should start your placebos on this day.  If all goes well, you should also start your period, and this should then be considered to be the first day of your cycle. Clomid or Femara could then be started on cycle day 3 (July 5) and continued through cycle day 7.  If the medications work properly, ovulation should then occur on cycle day 14 (July 16). This gives you a little margin of error if you are only going to be able to see your husband for 1-2 days.
If you are going to be together for longer, you might want to advance the dates so that cycle day 11 falls on July 15 so that you could have intercourse several times during your fertile window.
This is just one suggestion of how to manipulate your cycle, and of course it might not work, but then again, it might!
Good luck!

Hi there Dr B

I visited my GP today, and talked about my plan to try and manipulate my menstrual cycle.  He said I probably couldn't get Clomid unless I had proven infertility problems.  Is this the case do you know?

Overall he didn't advise the pill method, but I'm still going to give it a try via another GP if I have to.

At this stage, I am at CD21 and my temps seem to be all over the place.  Salive samples showed only slight ferning at CD20.  Have discomfort in the ovary areas and had streaks of B in clear mucus the other day.  Eggwhite mucus yesterday and today, but can't be sure I have ovulated I guess.  I'm trying to pinpoint my cycle as best as I can.

Can I show you my Ovulation tracker?  How do I do that?
