Low FSH and Low LH.... what does this mean?

Low FSH and Low LH.... what does this mean?

Hi, I am a 33 year old woman with an abnormal blood test. This test came from my general practitioner, and I am freaking out about the results. I have made an appointment with an ob/gyn (I just moved to a new city), but it's a month out. I am worried that I am now infertile. I have been taking Seasonelle (that's the pill that only gives you a period every 3 months) for about a year now, and I will stop this completely in a few days, when it runs out. I have a two year old son, and I became pregnant quickly. I had ovarian cysts as a teenager, and went on the pill at 17. My blood test is showing very low FSH and LH levels:
FSH 0.83 miu/ml (normal ranges 1.27 - 19.26)
LH 0.2 mil.ml (normal ranges 1.24 - 58.649)
Progesterone was normal: 0.35 ng/ml

I am freaking out. What does this mean? What do I need to do?
I appreciate any insight.
Julie

Hi!

Most likely they mean nothing at all.  It is not really a good idea to test these hormones while you are on a hormonal medication.  Birth control pills suppress LH/FSH and estradiol.  I'm not sure why your doctor would order those tests, but if you want to repeat them you should be off of your birth control pills for at least a month prior to doing so to get an accurate result.

Keep your appointment with your ob/gyn and definitely ask his/her opinion too!

Good luck!
