Low to Medium Positive Anticardiolipin IGM

I am 34 yr old FM. I have had consistent low to medium positive anticardiolipin/IGM levels over the last year (range 19-26). All other levels come back normal. I do not have a history of miscarriage, but do have a history of infertility (3 years). ALL possible fertility tests have come back normal, but I do have stage 2-3 endometriosis (removed by lap). I just underwent my first round of IVF and it was successful! First BFP ever. RE had me start Lovenox after 2nd beta (I have been on baby aspirin and am continuing). My question is, with a low-med positive is Lovenox indicated. RE says he is being extra cautious, which I respect. But, could it cause any problem with the baby or pregnancy if it is NOT needed. Also, could the elevated ACL have anything to do with my infertility?  Thank you in advance.

I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox. I'm 9 weeks pregnant and am tired of the spotting. I don't think I need to take Lovenox anymore. My OBGYN isn't running any routine blood tests either. Should he run tests and if so what tests? Should I also see another type of doctor too? I am 30 years old and this is my 1st pregnancy.

Ladies,

I have anticardiolipin and just lost a baby at 21 weeks with Eclampsia and severe HELLP.  I was very ill and in the hospital for about two weeks.  My doctors think the anticardiolipin might have been the cause.  I know from experience the shorts are not fun but I think you should check with a high risk doctor.  I have seen two high risk doctors since I lost my son and both said I would HAVE to be on lovenox shots and baby asprin.

I am in the process of doing an IVF cycle and having someone else carry the baby for us.  Good luck to all of you!

Lovenox safety in pregnancy is a question that is best answered by your obstetrician or by a high risk maternal fetal medicine subspecialist. I personally do not believe the low positive cardiolipin titers were related to infertility; the relationship is with recurrent pregnancy loss. I too respect your RE' reasoning for initiating lovenox, but would not have done so myself - a matter of opinion and my interpretation of the research and evidence available.
