Misshaped uterus

Misshaped uterus

Hi there,
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a couple of months now. We have had a couple miscarriages already. Recently we found out that I have a misshaped uterus and the baby doesn't implant because of it. My uterus is shaped like bunny ears but I have one cervix. I am very confused by this and not sure if we can ever conceive, because this is so rare there is no help out there. My OBGYN advised us off all the risks and I would be a high risk pregnancy. I am lost on what to do now. Should we keep trying and hope for the best or is there a better solution?  Do you think a fertility doctor would be any help to us? Any help at all would be very appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would definitely refer you to a fertility expert for consultation.
There is a procedure called a metroplasty that can repair a misshapen uterus.
It is sometimes used to convert a uterus with two cavities into a uterus with a single cavity.  You might be a candidate for such a procedure.  Alternatively, if you have a septum, there is a fairly simple procedure which can remove the septum.

Either procedure might lower your risk of miscarriage and pregnancy complications.

I don't know ( of course) whether either procedure would be right for you but I would certainly want the opinion of a fertility expert!

By the way, many women who have  a bicornuate or septate uterus DO end up carrying a pregnancy--so don't give up!

Good luck!

I also forgot to mention that I have O RH- blood as well. So this makes it even harder.
