PCOS, Femara dosage

Hi,
I am trying for my first baby but no success as of now. I am new to this community and in reality very confused and request for help and guidance .
I am on the 5mg dosage of Letrozole from D3 to D7. I wanted to know, is it always effective to take this medicine . I also suffer from PCOS. I am on second cycle now and had my Menstrual Cycle was on CD27 with pre-menstrual  discharge on CD26. It lasted for 4days only , so how do i get to know if I actually ovulated or not ?
I  had used OPKs on CD 10 and CD11 both in the evenings but got very faint line so cant even depend on that to know what happening in my body?

Hi!
You are on the proper dosage of Letrozole.  I usually either use 2.5 or 5 mg.
I usually advise my patients to use ovulation predictors on days 11-16 during the first few cycles, so they can ball-park when they ovulate.  You will get the best results if you use the first morning urine.  It is hard to tell whether you did or didn't ovulate this time around, though it seems as though you probably did given your approximately 28 day cycle.  I usually also like to do a confirmatory progesterone level for the first few cycles on CD21 or so.  You may want to mention that to your MD if  you aren't already pregnant!  There is also some data to suggest that adding Metformin might increase pregnancy rates if you are not having luck.

Thank you so much for replying back.
I had been diagnosed with PCOS when consulted for having family.
The details of the medication I am following is as below.
I was prescribed M2 tone tablets  (2+2 morning and evening) from CD1 to CD15,
with Letrozole - 5mg (1 daily) from CD3 to CD7 and
also progesterone  (1 daily) from CD16 to CD25.
I am on my 3rd cycle now on these medications, and what i have observed is I get my periods on CD27 with scanty discharge creamish in colour on days CD 24, CD25 and very little dark brown strechy discharge CD26.
From CD 27 to next 3-4 days I have medium flow clots and blood. This is quiet less compared to the kind of flow I used to get before i started having irregular periods.

I am a bit concerned whether the medication is suiting me or not and am I ovulating at all as I had also used OPK strips to check but got negative on CD10 and CD11 evening as explained above. This time I will test again fron CD11 to CD16 as advised.

I am unable to know whether i am doing the right thing and when shud I time relations to conceive .
Is it due to the Progesterone tablets from CD16 to CD25, I start getting my MC on CD 27 as explained earlier. I am concerned about the ovulation bit also.
Please advise, very tensed and confused.

Hi,

I seen my gyno and she prescribed me progesterone to get my menstral on track and then clomid. I took that clomid for 3 months and on the 3rd month the opk said i was ovulating but no pregnancy and she switched me to femara. I took that for one month and it still said i was ovulating but no pregnancy.  She told me my progesterone test said i wasnt ovulating. well thats what the nurse said anyways i never get to talk to the dr seen her once and never took any tests.  She now wants me to see a fertility specialist which i cannot afford. I am at a loss here and really wonder what else i can recommend that may help?
