Periods after ablation for pregnancy

Periods after ablation for pregnancy

Hi, Im 27 years old and in the past 3 years i had my tubes tide and had an endometrial ablation done....I am now divorced and my future husband and i wish to have one more child because he has none of his own. I have been talking to my gyn about reversing the procedure....i know that it is not sup to be reversible...but on my last two ultra sounds my endo lining is with in normal limits...problem is i have had  two times that i have spotted but normally have No bleeding at all. He says that with my lining the way it is that if i could get it to function again...(shed and regrow to the same thickness) that it may be possible to carry a baby. were are trying birth control at the moment.....so my question is...is there away to get my periods to come on again after an ablation???

Hi!
I'm glad you heard from mhv.  I'm an old "by the book" doctor and would be very cautious about recommending pregnancy to anyone who's had an ablation.  There are not enough reports to satisfy me that it is safe.  I wouldn't recommend an ablation to a 27 year-old woman either though, so there you have it!
My concern, and the concern of most of the doctors is about the risk of placenta accreta.
When you do contact this person, be sure to bring up that issue and get all of your questions answered before proceding.
I wish you the best luck!

If you are willing, I can give you an email to a doctor in LA CA that can may be able to tell you if you can reverse the effects of your ablation.  His name is Dr. Charles March, and he specialies in uterine issues.  I had surgery with him in January for ashermans (interuterine adhesions), he is an amazing amazing doctor who will correspond through email with you for free(if you are interested).  I have seen post on the ashermans.org site from women whom have had ablations, and he has been able to reverse them and the ladies havegone on to healthy pregnancies.  Again, if you are intested, I will gladly share this information with you... or you can go to ashermans.org and sign up.  There are amazing women on there that will give you support and guidance.

Good luck, and let me know if your interested :)
