Plan b and infertility

Dr,

On March 10, 2011, I had risky behavior with my boyfriend. we did not have intercourse, but got close. I got nervous and took plan b one step the next day. I got my period about a week later on March 17.  I went to my obgyn and she prescribed birth control pills. By the middle of April, my period still had not come. On April 23 I took a pregnancy test that was negative. While waiting for my period to start to begin the pills, a condom broke on April 23. Again I took plan b one step on April 24.

My question is does plan b cause infertility, will i ever have my period again?

the first day of my february period was feb 28. Im 34 years old usually very regular menstral cycl

Hi!
Plan B works by delaying ovulation.  It delays ovulation by altering hormones and basically "throwing your whole cycle out the window."  The effects of Plan B are temporary, and your cycles will eventually resume their normal pattern given the chance.
If you were my patient, I would be tempted to advise you to go ahead and begin your oral contraceptives without waiting for your period.  The pills will regulate your cycles, and will also provide more reliable birth control.  Ideally, we start the pills during a period to minimize the chances that you are pregnant already.  You may want to give your doctor a call and get his/her input on this problem too.
Good luck!
Dr B
