Pregnant after Hcg injection?

I've recently been diagnosed with PCOS and had my first round of clomid this past month (days 5-9 of my cycle) followed by mid-cycle ultrasound and hcg injection.  It has been 18 days since my injection and I had a positive urine pregnancy test this morning.  Could this be accurate or could it still be from the injection?  Also, should I be worried about ectopic pregnancy or birth defects getting pregnant this way?

Its NOT from the HCG injection!  Congratulations!  Using clomid should not increase the risk of birth defects or ectopic pregnancy.  There is always the baseline risk of both, but you are at no higher risk than any other woman.  If you were my patient, my next step would be to check a progesterone level and a quantitative beta HCG.  I would follow levels to be sure that they are rising appropriately (they should double about every 48 hours) and then once the level was over 2000, I would ultrasound you to check for viability and to rule out ectopic.  Good luck!
