Progesterone & Hormonal Imbalances

Progesterone & Hormonal Imbalances

I'm 37, TTC after coming off BC pills 5-6 mos ago.  I'm currently taking vitamin B-6 to hopefully help to correct a hormonal imbalance.  My doc says my Progesterone levels were low (6.8 on CD22).  She says I'm not ovulating even though my OPK's were always positive each month and my BBT charts always show a clear biphasic pattern.  However, I noticed my cycles getting shorter but luteal phase is 12 days, down from 14 days 3 cycles ago. Doc wants me to try Clomid but I don't think it's necessary since I ovulate.

My question is, even though you can still ovulate with low Progesterone, and possibly get pregnant, will this affect me since my luteal phase seems to still be sufficient?

Also, once you have your hormones under control, will you always have to take supplements?

paranoidpatty,
progesterone levels over 3 demonstrate that you are ovulating.
but we prefer to see progesterone levels over 10, because low progesterone can disrupt implantation.
i agree with your doctor that clomid makes sense. not only will it correct the progesterone levels, but also it will increase your fertility independently of progesterone.  after 35, the fertility rate progressively drops, so we don't like to dilly dally before starting therapy, especially a gentle therapy like clomid.
i would recommend vitamins, but not B-6, and not to normalize hormones.  rather, you should take a prenatal multivitamin, to improve the chances of a healthy baby when you do conceive.

I wanted to add that I get very bad pelvic pains and pressure around ovulation each month and I was actively TTC for only one cycle so far.  Doc says it's from the 3.7 cm fibroid but I can't believe that since the pain runs across my whole pelvic area.
