Progesterone

Hi Doc- I have a few questions - Thanks in advance for your time.

I am newly pregnant and my doc prescribed 200 mg of prometrium suppositories twice a day because my progesterone level was only a 10 at 10 dpo with a positive beta. When it was redrawn at 14 dpo it was a 29 after starting the supp.  How many hours each suppositiory should last after inserted and how long should I lay down after?  I am worried because the blood was drawn only 2 hours after my morning dose and I don't take the second dose until almost 14 hours later (when I go to bed) so I am scared my level may dip in the afternoon.  I also exercise for 30 to 40 minutes a day (I'm a runner)and am concerned it may cause a mid day progesterone drop.  Could it hurt to add a middle of the day 200 mg supp? My Hcg levels have been increasing a nice levels.

Sounds like you are doing great. Let's remember why you are taking the progesterone vaginally. It's because it is absorbed locally in the reproductive tissues. We sometimes want to translate tissue levels to blood levels and think of it the same way, wrong. The tissue levels are higher and more constant (less fluctuation) than blood levels. Most would agree that blood levels above 15 are good and the tissue is probably higher than this and more stable.
HOPE THIS HELPS

I'm wondering if your doctor knows about the running?  I was told no exercise beyond walking, as the impact can cause a miscarriage....

hi there...please help... i suffer from pcos and lost a beby in nov 2006...i got preg with the help of the gonal f injections. but when i misscarried my doc told me to take a break.. so i then decided to do some research and found that vitex helps to regulate cycles and possibly trigger ovulation..so before i started vitex i got a baseline blood test done which showed no ovulation and then three months after that my bloods came back normal except my progesterone  was too low (below 4). Doc said that all other hormones were working fine and trying to trigger ovulation except for my progest levels being too low, So i started  microgest 200 mg per day and am now on them 3 weeks.. what i would love to know is am i on the right dose of progesterone or am i making matters worse???? and also can progesterone make your period come even if your pregnant?? My period was 1week late before i started progesterone and when it did come i had a really good one in which i wouldnt normally as i suffer from pcos and mainly just old blood but this month it was a really good one with fresh blood..
