Provera still no bleed

Provera still no bleed

Hello, does anyone have any advice as to why I still have not had a bleed after taking 20mg of provera for 7days. Its now 15 days after last pill, have had no discharges or spotting or pain. This is my second cycle on provera last month was only on 10mg per day, and when didnt get bleed thought it may be eostrogen too low so had bloods done, all levels fine so the dr upted my dose of provera to get me a bleed this month but nothing. I took a HPT and again negative. I called my doctors office and am scheduled for an ultrasound on the 14th.  Any thoughts as to why i am not getting a bleed? many thanks melissa

Hi!
I can think of two possibilities that might explain your lack of a withdrawl (withdrawal) bleed.  The first would be scarring of the cervix which could prevent the blood from discharging, the second would be Asherman's syndrome which is scarring of the endometrium or tissue that lines the uterus.
An ultrasound is a good next step, and should give you lots of information.
Hope this helps!

When I took the provera for 7 days I got this brown (old blood) on day 4 of taking it and it lasted about two weeks (even after the pills stopped) but I didnt get anything else. So my doc had me take another HPT and do the second round (which I have not done yet) because I was trying to wait and see if my cycle would in fact jump start. I guess for everyone it's different and so like Dr Brown said I think the US is the next best step. Wish you luck
