Symptoms of Pregnancy after IVF
I recently underwent IVF. I had a 3 day embryo transfer on last Saturday (April 12, 2008)... I keep having pregnancy symptoms but I believe they are caused by the Progesterone Injections I am currently taking and the Estrogen patch that I change every other day... What are some symptoms that I can look for that are not caused by estrogen or progesterone? I have my blood pregnancy test on Thursday but am a very impatient person... Just looking for something to look forward to in order to get through the next few days...
cramping is really good... i had ivf and my breast started feeling tender pretty quickly.. that was a definite sign for me... i am now 11 wks preg with twins.. good luck and thinnk positive... remember you are pregnanet until proven otherwise.. keep us posted...

I did a day 5 transfer with 2 blast on my 3rd IVF and on day 6-8 I had some mild cramping on and off which I did not have with my first two cycles. My RE said that could be from implantation. Which they were right because I got a BFP!!! I am now 5 weeks pregnant!!!!

Thank you so much for the advice. It really helps a lot to hear these things from someone who has experienced the process. My DH and I just did our last attempt with IUI and will know the result in two weeks. We are still doing everything to prep for the IVF just in case we get another negative. Thanks for the wishes of luck and I will keep you posted on my progress.
Babyhope1: I agree with your DH and don't think life should be put on hold. If you friend knows you are ttc I would ask that she have a backup in mind just in case you get a BFP and too far along to travel. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
stgerard: Let me explain the insurance part. My insurance covers 4 procedures per lifetime and they are all under one umbrella. Doing and IUI is the same as doing an IVF as far as the insurance is concerned. So my RE thinks that we are waisting time with the IUI since the IVF doubles my chances of getting pregnant and it's WAY more expensive than the IUI. I agree. If the insurance is willing to pay for both, I may as well get the best odds available.

Well I am now an expert on IVF !! Not really a good thing but I can speak fairly confident about it. My first one was in 2003 where I got pregnant on the first try and now have beautiful twin sons. The first experience was ...a little difficult but when you remember why you are doing it, all the anxiety just went away. The shots were tough at first but like anything else, you get used to it. What really helps is to have a doctor or clinic that you trust and can talk to whenver you have a question.
Since then sadly I have gone through it 4 more times.
As for the process itself, dont be scared - WHEN you get your positive result and G-d willing have a child, you will forget all the doubt and uncertainty. There is nothing like knowing that your efforts were for the best cause on earth.

I had my ivf on 5/3/08. My breast are swollen and tender. I am so anxious to find out if i am pg. My blood test is on 5/14/08. I am so excited i experience cramping for 3 days. I wish i knew today.

I am 5 wks 3 days pregnant . Had IVF w day 3 frozen embryos July 9th. This is my second egg donor IVF. The first ended w miscarriage at 11 wks after bleeding on/off.
Everything was going well but today I felt crampy and started bleeding. Ultrasound showed gestational sac and yolk sac( too early for fetal pole) and measurements were a little behind...I'm really worried and scared and can't stop thinking and obsessing about lack of pregnancy symptoms (I had nausea but not today) and I'm emotionally spent.... I have to wait until Wednesday for another ultrasound. What can I do? I feel helpless and I wish I knew how to not get so upset but I'm devastated.

Ladies, I am in a delima. I need to chat with people who have IVF experience...see my RE wants me to wait and try IUI a certain number of times (3) before moving on to IVF. This last cycle, 4 eggs 88 million sperm, HCG shot for perfect timing and I am 99% sure there is no baby. Today is CD 27, nego test last night.
Anyway, it doesn't work for me and I was asked to be in a wedding in May which exactly coincides with a potential birth. I know I shouldn't stress about it until (if) it happens however I want to be there for her. Her first fiance was killed two months before the wedding a few years ago. If I do IUI this once more (which would be the last) I am thinking I should potentially deliver around May 13th, her wedding is May 9th...or do IVF now and deliver potentially early April. My DH does't want to put our lives on hold any longer and I am torn, she is my best friend. The catch is that she lives 2,000 miles away and I can't fly that third trimester (I think) driving for 3 days VERY pregnant possibly over the mountains isn't my idea of a good time. Anyone have any advice or ideas?

I'm in a similar position to "hopefultobeblessed" so I'm anxious for people to respond. I had one IUI and I have my preg. test on Monday. I am hopeful b/c I had the same cramping people are talking about with IVF, but I don't know if it means anything. And my breasts were very tender and sensitive, but now they aren't. :( I assume that is not a good sign.
Anyway, If this IUI is unsuccessful my RE wants us to try it 1 or 2 more times. Personally I would rather go to IVF b/c the success rates are higher. Plus, my insurance doesn't cover anything! So, each IUI cycle could be spent on IVF.

My DH and I are considering the IVF process. I've only had one IUI and becasue of my insurance plan my RE thinks we should move to the IVF process. Please share anything you can about the process. What it's like, does it hurt, preparations, timeframe, etc.......

I did a 5day transfer and was confirmed pregnant on wk 4. 2 days after that I had a throbbing pain on the right side and last for almost a day w/ no spotting. My breast tenderness went away after that and came back on and off. I don't know what's going on. Can anyone help?
I have never been prego so for what its worth...tender breasts, peeing a lot, increased appetite & sleepiness. I read that your body doesn't know you are prego until it implants so you have no symptoms. Blasts I would think implant right away...anyway your post was April 20th, how are you today? I am pulling for you!

I had my ivf and waiting for blood test on 13th May, I've been having period-like discomforts since 3 days after IVF. I'm hoping it's a positive sign. Wishing u all da best too
Thanks... I am having some AF like cramps off and on and have been since about 2 days after my transfer... so I'm more positive now... I am anxious for tomorrow...
