Trying for second baby

Trying for second baby

My DH and I are planning on trying for another baby.  I have PCOS and conceived my dd on 2nd round of Clomid in 2008.  We are wanting to plan for another baby to conceive in the fall but don't know where to start.  Will I have to go through all the testing and procedures again? Or can I automatically start the Clomid when we are ready?  I really don't want to go through all the infertility stuff again so it's making me dread the whole experience.  If I have to start the process again, how far in advance should we start to try and increase our chances of conceiving in the fall?

Hi!
When I have worked with a couple to determine what the problem is, and also what the solution to the problem is, I usually DO NOT repeat all the testing.  I would probably just start the Clomid again.
If you were my patient, I would tell you to stop any contraception other than barrier methods ( condom or diaphragm ) now.  And start prenatal vitamins.  If you need to lose any weight or get in shape, do that now too!
I would probably start Clomid two to three months before you want to conceive, just in case it doesn't work.  Then, I would go from there!
Hope this helps!
Good luck!

If you are healthy enough and dont have any bad habits u can just keep having unprotected sex and see if u can conceive on ur own. Since you conceived on just 2nd round of clomid if u wann conceive in fall and if u have to start the process u can do so in the mid summer. Just a thot.

Thanks so much!  I was hoping I wouldn't have to start the process all over again!  This gives me hope that my doctor will feel the same way.  I have my annual visit in a couple months so I will find out for sure then but, this is very relieving to hear!  Makes me a little more excited about ttc, instead of dreading it!  I still would love to conceive naturally but that is unlikely.  I have PCOS, but mine makes me annovulatory (s/p?) so I doubt we will get pregnant on our own.  But this is good news...hope my doc agrees!!

Hi guys! I had a laparatomy last September  and right tube was cut. We started trying for the second child. Every month I pray not to have a period and the waiting really is no joke. Not sure if I ovulate or not cause I tried the OPK and no sign of ovulation.Would like to try clomid, but what are my chances of conceiving, left with the left tube and cycle is between 28-30 days every month. Previously it took 13 months to conceive with two tubes and now with one, what are my chances?

Hi,

has your doctor tried you on metformin to treat the pcos.  If they haven't that is a great first step as it normalises cycles in many women with PCOS.

Best wishes
