Trying to concieve(conceive) and getting very disheartened

Hi all. I hope that some of you guys will be able to help me here as I really am finding it very hard I am 29yr old women. Myself and my partner have been trying to conceive for the past to years .After 1 and 1/2 years trying ourselves we decided that we needed to go to try and get some advise .We attend a fertility clinic where we did some test and we were told that my partners sperm count was a bit above average .But I was told that there was some evidence that I have PCOS. The doctor did some blood test and told me at that time I was releasing the hormone to ovulate but whether I was releasing an egg was a different story. But I am not sure whether I actually have the signs .My periods are fairly regular 27 or 28 days long normal 28. I don't suffer from facial hair. Yes my periods are heavy for the first 3 days but then there are fine and the last up to 7 days. the only symptoms I may have is I am over weight .But that is mainly based on bad eating habits which I am trying to get under control as the clinic will not help us medically (drugs) until my BM is normal....Has anyone experienced anything I have just said and managed to conceive all by themselves...even with weight on them???

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would start you on Metformin.  You might be able to convince your clinic to do this for you.  Metformin reduces insulin sensitivity that comes along with PCOS and over-weight.  It also helps many women to lose weight and ovulate more regularly.
I'm not convinced that ovulation is your problem though, because your periods are so regular.  If you were my patient, I would ask you to do ovulation predictors (similar to home pregnancy tests) and I would check a day 21 progesterone level.
If you are ovulating regularly, and still no baby, the next step I would take, is to do an HSG--(hysterosalpingogram) this test checks to see if your tubes are blocked or open.
If your tubes are blocked, there is no point to taking a lot of fertility medication.
By the way, losing some weight before pregnancy will be healthier for your baby too.

Good luck!

I am 23 and I have been trying to get pregnant for 3 months now and no luck. My period is 26-27 days long. It came October 18, 2009, November 16, 2009, December 12, 2009 and January 7, 2010 and I am expecting it around the 2 of February 2010. I checked my ovulating dates using a ovulating calendar but nothing has happened up to now. I have had sex at least 2 times a day for the past 2 and 1/2 weeks, so I guess I will see what happens. I however have a few facial hairs on my chin, but not sure if or why it would affect my chances of conceiving.

I am 21 and I have been trying to conceive now for a year and nothing has happened yet. My periods are very irregular. Most of the time I would not get my periods for months. At first I was on medication to make me have a period and that did not help me conceive, but after I stopped the medication my periods would come every month. I also have facial hair and wondering what does that have to do with me trying to conceive, and why am I having trouble at my age?  Could this have something to do with me  having a history of missed periods? How could I change this and become pregnant?
