Tsh tx and ttc

Tsh tx and ttc

Hi hoping this is the right forum for this question... Basic history (sorry for length)
I had tubal reversal in sept 10 and still TTC.  I'm 36.5 yo dh is 43. SA was super great count and motility.  Dec physical showed low tsh .07.  Retest in feb. was .01 so referred to endo.  Don't have great ins so went to my VA primary and retest in Mar tsh .007, ft3 3.77, ft4 1.18.  I'm 5'2" 154 lbs.  So now waiting for endo consult at VA hosp.
I want to make sure I have enough info before I go for questions and input in tx.  My fertility dr said to avoid ptu but I've noticed several posts saying that was ok for ttc or pregnancy.  WhAt is it and is it ok or even best if ttc?  What about tests and tx should I ask avoid or look into?   I am NOT on any meds right now except prenatals.   Just want to be informed, unfortunately VA docs are not the best at giving info or options.... And I'm confused About contradictory suggestions re connections between tx and fertility/pregnancy.
Thanks in advance for your time and any advice.

HI!

The decision whether to use PTU would probably be based upon your free T3 values and your symptoms. It IS OK to use when trying to conceive and during pregnancy. It is BETTER if you don't need to use it. Sometimes observation is all that is necessary, depending upon your clinical status.
The endocrinologist at the VA is likely to be knowledgeable and helpful.  Be sure that you ask all of your questions!
You may also want to do some reading about Grave's disease and pregnancy -- Grave's is one possible and common cause of a low TSH value

One absolute is:  be certain that you don't use any radioactive Iodine if there is any chance that you are pregnant.

Hope this helps!

Thanks. The unknown is always the worst..... So my imagination is running wild from lack of info (or too much from the Internet). Have an appt with endo on tues..... Am hoping they will be well informed and open to considering conception issues.... So far VA docs dismiss concerns bc they don't cover pregnancy issues (except my primary, who was willing to  take me off all pain management while I try to conceive) thanks again

Had my first appiontment.  Do you recommend tx prior to conception or can  I wait.  My fertility doc said to wait but the endo and her boss want uptake test to pinpoint thyroiditis or Graves and have me worried about getting pregnant now.   Have to wait a week to make sure I am NOT pregnant right now.. running additional antibody tests and want uptake scan next week..
