What are the chances of me getting pregnant?

What are the chances of me getting pregnant?

Hi. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had a 6 cm endometrioma removed from my right ovary 11 weeks ago.

My doctor said I had no other adhesions in my pelvic area.

I did an artificial insemination 2 weeks ago while taking 50mg of Clomid. My doctor injected sperm directly into my uterus.

Right now it is the 30th day of my cycle and I have been spotting 5 days already (from brown to pink colored). So I assume that I am not pregnant this time.

What are the chances that I will get pregnant if I keep doing the insemination?

Also, what is the best date to do the insemination after I test positive on my LH surge?

Hi!
First of all, you should probably take a pregnancy test despite the spotting.  Many women have spotting in the early part of pregnancy.  Secondly, the statistics for an IUI cycle are slightly better than for a natural cycle--about 20-25% chance of pregnancy per cycle.  It isn't cumulative though, just a 25% chance each time.  Thirdly, I have seen both things done, I have seen the IUI done on the day of the positive LH surge, and I have seen other practicioners do it on the day after the surge.  Some people do two injections, although there is a lot of debate about whether this improves your chances.  If possible, you should also have plain old intercourse too!  Because you have endometriosis, your chances are a little less than average, but since it was recently "cleaned up in there"  your odds are better right now.
I hope this helps!
Good luck!

Thanks for your response.

My gynecologist told me that after I have my LH surge, it takes 24 hrs for the egg to get released fdrom the ovary and into the fallopian tubes. Then it takes up to 3 days for the egg to go into the uterus. So he told me that I can do the insemination anywhere from 24 to 72 hrs after I get my LH surge. It sounded weird to me at first because I thought the egg could only live for 24 hrs. But he said it no. He told me it has 3 days before it falls into the uterus, where the insemination will occur.

So, I'm a bit confused now.  I THINK that our eggies ONLY stay viable for 12-24 hours MAX.   It hangs around inside our tube waiting for their date!  & IF conception occurs THEN they (now united!) will make their way & attach inside the uterus wall.  It takes a few days for this to happen, but the eggie doesn't go to the uterus by itself & wait for the sperm.
Anyway, this is what I know, I think this is how it works?!?!?!

BTW I have done now 3 cycles of meds.  & I ALWAYS O early, within 24 hours of my trigger shot & this month I'm pretty certain I O'd BEFORE my triger, so make SURE you guys BD a day or two before your LH & then do the IUI the day of the LH or after.
Sometimes DR's don't know EXACTLY when O will take place.

Good luck ;)

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

I even questions my gyn about this subject. But he insisted that he's the doctor and he's board certified and all that.

So I guess I'll just have to trust him this once since I'm not a doctor.

I don't mean to sound rude but your doctor sounds like an idiot!!  I agree with Ita.....the egg only lives 12-24 hours and like she said will attach to the uterus once it is fertilized in the fallopian tube.  I would serioulsy consider a new doctor.  These treatments are not cheap, you should have a dr who knows what he is talking about!!!!  Good Luck to you!!!!

Well, after this cycle, if I still don't get pregnant, I'm going to look for a new doctor to do my IUI.  The only reason why I chose this doctor is because he graduated from Stanford. So I assumed that he has to know what he's doing.

But I'm definitely going in to do the IUI the next day after I hit my LH surge. I will just disregard everything he told me. I'm not even going to tell him when I got my surge, because he will tell me that it wouldn't work if I go in the next day.
