Worried about ectopic pregnancies!

Dear doctor,

I have concieved twice and both pregnancies have ended up ectopic! The first tube burst and it was removed that is the first pregnancy, by then the pregnancy was 6 weeks. The second one was discovered before bursting and the doctor assured me that if operated on time, my tube can be saved! The operation was successful and the doctor assured me that I still had the ability of conceiving again. It is now a year gone! Is it really possible that i can become pregnant again? Or maybe the doctor was just consoling me? I indeed want to be sure such that i can do other things.

Your doctor is correct. Most of the time, if the pregnancy was removed and the tube left behind, the tube stays open. As it has been a year, though, you should make an appointment with you doctor. You may want to consider having an X-Ray test called a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) done which will tell you if the tube is open. Also, whenever someone has a year of trying to get pregnant without success, it is a good idea to do some hormone testing and a sperm count.
