If the xray shows you tubes are blocked, then you cannot get pregnant without help. The options are surgery to repair the fallopian tubes, or in vitro fertilization which will bypass the tubes. Open tubes are required for the sperm to reach the egg. Thus, even if you are taking medicines like clomid and metformin which help your ovaries to release an egg, without open fallopian tubes the sperm will not be able to reach the egg to fertilize it.  Finally, sometimes the X-ray is mistaken, but you definitely need more evaluation of your tubes if it indicates they are blocked.

You should follow up with your provider to discuss what to do with the findings of the tubal blockage.

Hoping4amircle,

You working with an IVF clinic? Your specialist would share with you the protocal you are on and why.

I am doing IVF as well, and the reality of it is ... its a **** shoot. You either roll great dices or you don't. You may have to try a few times too rollen the dice to see what you get.

It is not easy, doing IVF treatment, but if you are confused/concerned, then you should be taking the questions to your IVF specialist (RE) and getting him to explain everything fully to you and the success percentages as well for your age and fertility issue(s).

HEY THERE, I AS OF YET AM NOT DOING IVF. BUT IF IT COMES DOWN TO THAT, THEN I WILL GIVE IT A TRY.I'VE DONE MANY ULTRASOUNDS AND EVERYTHING IS GREAT INCLUDING MY HSG, WHICH SHOWED MY TUBES WERE FREE & CLEAR. AT FIRST MY OB THOUGHT MY TUBES WERE BLOCKED AND THAT WAS THE PROBLEM WITH ME NOT BEING ABLE TO CONCEIVE. I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THE HSG WILL MAKE ME FERTILE EVEN IF MY TUBES ARE CLEAR???

ABOUT CLOMID I'VE TAKEN IT BEFORE (ONE CYCLE ONLY)AND I HAD NO LUCK. NOW MY OBGYN PUT ME ON METFORMIN & CLOMID TO INCREASE MY CHANCES WITH HAVING A BABY.I WASN'T SURE AS TO WHEN TO START WITH THE COMBO MEDICATION. MY DOC WASN'T CLEAR BUT I GUESS I WILL NEED TO SPEAK TO HIM ONCE MORE TO CLEAR THE CONFUSION.THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT...

I have PCOS and am on the second month of metformin (500mg twice aday). I am ttc and wanted something to help me. The metformin has help regulate my menses which is usually come everymonth, is either heavy or spotting. Only my glucose was checked and it was normal and nothing else. My ob/gyn has given me a prescription of clomid to be taken on day 5 of my menses.  Is this the right way to take clomid?  Does taking both metformin and clomid help me concieve?  Ovulation test kits are not available in my area.  Is it a useful tool for me to use?
