chronic prostatitis, pregnancy & fetal health

My husband has had periodic prostatitis for the last  two years and has taken 3 rounds of antibiotics.
We would like to try to concieve (conceive) but are worried that if we do, the infections could somehow cause the fetus to be unhealthy.
His urologist has also recommended permixon, but we are not sure if its better to wait until after we conceive to try this medication.
5 months ago enterobac was found in his sperm culture - no enlargement of prostate was found.
The last round of antibiotics (Cipro and Resprim) finished 4 months ago.
Again, our first concern is fetal health.
Is it a good idea to try to get pregnant if a man has prostatitis?
Should we hold off Permixon?
Thanks,

Hi!
There should be no reason not to try to conceive. The infection won't be transmitted to the fetus.  As far as Permixon goes, it seems fairly safe to try it.  It has shown some benefit in trials and side effects are few.  You may want to ask your husband's doctor whether in his experience Permixon has lowered the sperm count.  If so, this would probably be a termporary effect.
Good luck!
