day 22 progesteron test

day 22 progesteron test

First day of my last cycle was dec.31,2010  i took clomid 100mg days 4-8 of my cycle and was on 5 days of 10mg of provera to induce my period. I took opk tests from day 10 of my cycle on day 15 of my cycle i got a poitive opk test. I went to have my progesteron check on day 22 was suppose to be on day 21 but i could not make it to the lab untill the next day. So today i spoke to my dr. and he said according to the test i did not ovulate but according to the opk test i did and i could of sworn that i was cramping around those days also and i thought i was ovulating is there any chance that the test was wrong?

Hi!
The progesterone level was probably correct. Waiting until day 22 won't have a big effect.
If indeed you did ovulate on cycle day 15, your period should start on exactly cycle day 29.  If you end up needing to take progesterone to start your period again, it IS a definite indication that you did NOT ovulate.
One thing to consider, in addition to the basal body temperatures mentioned by 3guys, is adding Metformin to your medications.  This will sometimes help if you have PCOS.
Losing weight and/or maintaining an optimal BMI is also very helpful.
Hope this is helpful information!

The Clomid should not have affected your OPK if you got the positive on day 15.  Remember, though, that OPKs do not tell you if you are ovulating, just that the LH surge is happening, which is the hormone that encourages an egg to release (ovulate).  It sounds like maybe your LH surged, but an egg was not mature enough to actually release.  Does that make sense?  I've been through all of what you've mentioned several times (provera induction of period, clomid 100 mg, "21 day" progesterone wtd).  Taking progesterone level on day 22 instead of day 21 would not affect the test greatly, so I would figure that your test was accurate.  I've had times when I ovulated just fine one month on clomid and the next month I didn't for some reason even though everything else was the same.  Talk with your doctor about your concerns, and seriously consider taking your Basal Body Temperature each morning.  That is the only way (besides a progesterone blood test at 7 days past o) that you can get a good idea whether or not you are ovulating.  I do both.
