I am a 26 year old black female. I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovaries almost 6 year ago. I went on Ortho-tricycline lo, and this helped to regulate my period. But recently I have been having a lil blood when I wipe after urination. I initially thought that I may have a UTI. But this has stretched out to 3wk or so. And now I am wondering if it may be another problem. I have been doing a lot of reading and trying to research Uti's/bladder infections and I really am not having any pain during or after urination. About 7 years ago I was on my period for almost 2yrs before I went to the doctor. I also have been very very tired lately and cold ALL the time. At first I thought this may be from the loss of blood so long ago, but now I'm not sure. I haven't been to the doctor in about 2years. Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Want2BeMama,
Metformin by itself is not the most reliable approach to inducing ovulation caused by PCOS.  It can lead to ovulation, but sometimees only after nine months on the drug.  also, temperature is a crude method to monitor ovulation.  i suggest you ask your doctor to add clomid to begin ovulating. typically, we would have you bring down a period with a progesterone, then begin clomid at the lowest dose, even though you have only a small chance of ovulating on the lowest dose.  monitor ovulation by having an ultrasound of the ovaries on the twelfth day of your cycle.  if the ultrasound shows a follicle on the ovaries of at least 17 mm you are very likely to ovulate. if you do not ovulate on the lowest dose, take progesterone to pull down a period, increase the clomid by 50 mg then repeat the ultrasound. david
