iui failed 3 times

Dear Doctor,

Last August we tried to have a baby for the first time and it worked in the beginning but I had a chemical pregnancy.  2 months later we tried again and I was pregnant for 6 weeks but miscarried.  3 months later we tried again and I was positive for a day, but was also a chemical pregancy.  I took all the tests and the  my gyno said that I should go on lovenox. I went to three fertility doctors and one blood doctor who said the only think I should take is baby aspirin and that there is nothing wrong as far as they see.  I am now seeing a new fertility doctor who said i should try IUI, so I have 3 times but none have worked.  I was wondering why on or own though not successfull I was able to become pregnant and doing with 3  clomid for 5 days and two inseminations each cycle what might be going wrong.. I don't know weather to do a fourth insemination or ask the doctor to try ivf at this point??  Im really confused and at this point don't know what to do.

thank you

ahava

Allot has gone on and I am not really sure we have gotten any answers, there might not be any. Although I am missing all the details this is where I would start; find an REI and get all your records. It may seem like starting over but you may want ot make sure all of the i's are dotted.  You mentioned allot of things,,,, was the uterine cavity checked for anomalies and what was the lab abnormality for the suggesstion of lovenox,,,,,Were genetic studies on you and your significant other done?, if you miscarry again check the products of conception for genetic abnormalities.
I think of clomid in someone who ovulates as shortening the time period to get pregnant. 80% of couples should concieve after 12 months of trying. 80% of couples using clomid and IUI should concieve in 3 to 4 months. So after 3 or 4 months if the clomid and IUI has not worked it is time to look for another reason or choose another treatment plan.
HOPES THIS HELPS

Ahava I feel for you.  We have had similar experiences.  They have no idea why we aren't getting pg.  IVF is not a shoo in, but if my insurance covered it I would do it.  I have done several cycles of IUI and 2 cycles of failed injectable cycles.  It is heart wrenching.  I wish the very best for you.

I would agree that if you can do IVF.  The success rates are higher and they will grow your blastocyst outside of you and insert it so you know it wont be chemical.  Not to mention they can insert more than one to iincrease your chances.  You said you went to a blood doctor?  Are you RH neg.?  That could also be a cause to your challenge.  www.rhogam.com can offer more info on that.

to be honest. I would if possible do the IVF. if you have tried the IUI 3x already i personally wouldn't want to go through it all again.and find out it didn't work. It is a very emotional and stressful as you well know.which can also keep you from getting pregnant. I too am trying and having no such luck. i was told that IVF is the best way to go. Best of Luck to you... God Bless..
