laparoscopy/ovulation/period

I'm due to have a laparoscopy on the day after or the day I ovulate. My questions are: What happens if the egg is fertilized the day before op, will the lap op kill the fertilized egg? If I do ovulate the day of the op, will I get my period earlier?

Look forward to your replies.

Hi!
One way to prevent a problem with an embryo would be to avoid intercourse on the night before surgery--and probably for three days before that.  That way, there is no chance that anything can happen to a fertilized egg.

There is typically some bleeding after a laparoscopy due to manipulation of the cervix and uterus.  This is not really a period.  Your period will probably come on schedule, unless the stress of surgery throws your cycle off.  I'm sure they will do a pregnancy test on the day of surgery, so that they won't operate if you are already pregnant.

Hope this helps!
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I was going to wait but I'm having pains on the right side, the doctor treated for PID back in May and I've not been right since, we have only been TTC for 3 months, I just want to get it over and done with, the doctor thinks it could be endo, I'm booked in for next Fri 8th October, I've got my pre med Monday. I suppose I already now the answer to if the egg was fertilized the day before, it wouldn't be able survive in the dye would it. I was mainly wondering if my period would come earlier with having the laparoscopy done?  Thanks for your help xx
