low estrogen level

low estrogen level

I  am 42 years old and do not want any more children however, I had been having anxiety and depression. I have had all blood work done I am not premenopausal and do not have a thyroid problem but my estrogen level is 14 is that to low and should I get an injection once a month?

There are lots of sides to that question! It certainly wouldn't hurt to have one injection to see if it helped alleviate some of the anxiety/depression symptoms.  ESPECIALLY if you are having any trouble sleeping, it could be a consequence of low estrogen.

American Congress of Ob/gyn recommends taking the lowest effective dose of hormones for the shortest time necessary to help with peri-menopausal symptoms.  This is due to some recent information about increased breast cancer risk with combination hormones.

Taking estrogen alone without progesterone can also increase the risk of uterine cancer.

So, CERTAINLY if it does NOT help, don't continue!
