low fetal hb

Dear Dr.
This is my 4th pregnancy w/one living daughter. I went for my first ultrasound yesterday. I was 6 weeks 1 day pregnant. The sac measured 6 weeks and there was a yolk sac & baby. We did see a hb but it was only 89. My Dr. gave me a 50/50 chance. The tech said it could have just started beating. Do you have any insight on this? My dr. was pleased that at least the sac measured 6 weeks. My hcg over the last few weeks is good and I am on 100mg progesterone suppositories.  THanks for your words!

Hi there -

I rate your chances at better than 50-50, more like 65%-35%. Babies less than 6 1/2 weeks will have slower heart rates than more advanced pregnancies. Regardless, you are doing everything you can with the addition of progesterone. Will you be repeating the ultrasound soon?
