FERTILITY / INFERTILITY EXPERT FORUM
pink bleeding during intercourse..

pink bleeding during intercourse..

Just turned 41 (have 2 and 5 yr old naturally) but now after year of trying for third, turning to IVF. So far, two rounds have not worked.. going to NYC clinic for third try.. understand you had luck with IVF in your 40s. How many tries did it take you?
My main question or concern though is... Last three months, have felt like getting yeast infection right around ovulation (which makes it difficult to try to conceive).. last month took Monistat 1 (single dose formula) and it made me literally bleed.. way too strong.  I am curious why I might be getting what feels like yeast infection each month same time.. and more importantly, have had some light pink bleeding intercourse lately .. with what looks like tiny pieces of tissue.  What in the world could this be? I have never had anything like this before starting all this fertility stuff.  Could it be related to that or is it sign of something more serious being wrong?
Also, I took RU 486 at 6 weeks pregnant 1.5 years ago.. do you think that could be a factor.. that it didn't clear everything out???  I will see my RE, but I'm on vacation now and can't get to doctor for a week and am concerned.  I have very light periods and wonder if I am not fully shedding my lining or something.. but wouldn't these IVF clinic docs have noticed if something more serious was wrong? They test for about everything else.  Had intercourse last night (only have sex a few times a month) and there was light pink blood on the sheets and in toilet with what looked like tiny pieces of tissue. Am due for AF in day or two.
Looking for what you think may cause the light pink blood and pieces of tissue ... and the chronic yeast infection sensaton (granted it's more itching than anything else that makes me think I'm getting yeast infection).  Any more specific info you can give me on what could cause this would help.. and I do understand your information won't take place of my doctor's thorough review.

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would do a thorough exam and pap smear.  The reproductive endocrinologists are focused on IVF, and it is kind of left up to the individual to follow up on her general health, so no, they wouldn't necessarily notice something wrong,

Also, at the time  of the exam, I would do a wet mount looking for yeast organisms, or Bacterial Vaginosis.  Your body has been through quite a lot in the past few years, and it wouldn't surprise me much if you had yeast due to all the hormonal manipulation.
If I treat yeast, I like to use Diflucan which is an oral preparation.

The pap is important too.  I'm fairly confident that your RE's are keeping tabs on your endometrium (lining) so I'm not too concerned that there are problems there.

Good luck!
