single ovary and child birth

What are the health concerns associated with removal of one ovary? I had one ovary removed when I was 17, I am 26 now and have had regular periods since.

How can I know if I will have challenges getting pregnant before even trying? How strong a regular period an indicator of no issues. What all can a scan possibly predict/ indicate?

Apart from child birth, how else can this impact my well being in the longer run.

Thanks

Hi!
Removal of one ovary will very likely have very little impact upon your life.  Most women are able to conceive as many children as they would like.  A regular period is a good indication that a person is ovulating. An ultrasound would be able to evaluate the number of antral follicles in your remaining ovary, which is another indicator of potential fertility.
Finally, menopause is unlikely to be significantly sooner than you would otherwise have experienced, but might be a few months/years sooner.  An FSH is probably the best indicator of impending menopause.
Good luck!
