thin endrometrium

after a missed miscarraige (miscarriage) in may 2008 an incomplete ERPC infection in the womb due to retained tissue, a repeat ERPC 7 weeks later. Severe cycle pain no bleeding caused by a uterine band which was removed in october 2008 i got one period in october and returned to cycle pain no bleeding. I went to another doc and had another dilation. after this my periods returned very lightly i was concerned so after my 5th very light period i had a scan at 15 days into my cycle and it showed my lining was 6mm and i had a dominant follical of 1.7cm in my right ovary. I saw a fertility doctor today, i am ovulating my bloods are fine but im not getting pregnant. i never had this problem before all the above happened she thinks it has a lot to do with my age , im 39. This is the short version i could write a book . She told me i will never find out if the above has caused my problems, its the same hospital where i had the ERPC done. Any idea whats going on, and what can i do to get to the end of this.Im really upset as this has been going on so long. thank you for reading this.

Hi!
It sounds to me as though you have had some bad luck.  I'm not sure that anyone could be pinpointed to blame though. Retained products of conception and simultaneous infection requiring a second D&C (ERPC) is a set up for Asherman's syndrome.  Asherman's is scarring of the uterine lining.  You probably already know this term.  It certainly can be a cause of infertility.  Have you had an HSG? (hysterosalpingogram) and or hysteroscopy to determine if there is any further scarring? In some cases
Asherman's can be treated hysteroscopically. in other cases, an IUD can be placed and high dose estrogen can be used to regenerate the lining.  This could improve you chances. Another thing to consider is IUI--since it sounds like you also may have cervical stenosis (scarring of the cervix) which could decrease the numbers of sperm making their way to the tubes.
Unfortunately, your age is definitely a factor.  After 30 fertility drops rapidly whether we like it or not.  Most of us DON'T! So it really is impossible to say what is the cause. Most likely it is the whole combination of things.
I hope this is useful.
Good luck!
