Could due date be wrong?

We need some help! We went for our first ultrasound, where they found fetus but no heartbeat and said that the baby measured only 6 weeks. The nurse told us that they were not hopeful and started discussing our options. They said that our due date is October 21st, but that is based on a 28 day cycle ovulating on day 14. Well, we were using a fertility monitor and know for a fact that we ovulated on Day 22-23, which would definitely push things back a week to a week in a half. The nurse didn't even examine her or take blood to check her levels. I would think that they would check the levels if they suspected a miscarriage.  She didn't want to listen to us and just insisted that we should see a heartbeat by now! Has anyone else been in this situation? Where the doctors consider you to be 8 weeks when you know for a fact that you are not? Should we see the heartbeat yet and should we be giving up hope like the nurse told us?  This is complete torture until we go to the next ultrasound on Monday.

I agree, depending on when you ovulated and it implanted it could be off.  With my dd we didn't hear a hb until almost 9 weeks.  Hang in there!!!

I agree with 2nd opinion.  Also with my son, we didn't get a heartbeat at 9 weeks and got one at 12 weeks.  He's always been a little guy and kind of frail, but he is the joy of my life along with my 4 yr old little girl.

Don't lose hope and don't let them do anything that ur not in 100% agreement with.

Usually they can see a heartbeat around 5-7 weeks.  My advice would be to seek a second opinion.  They told me the same...I just found out I had an ectopic pregnancy.  They should have taken bloodwork, just to monitor the Hcg levels.  I would defintely get a second opinion..plus it helps to give you peace of mind, and to make an informative decision.  Never give up hope, medicine isn't mistake proof!
