IVF and HPT vs bloodwork

I had my day 5 embryo transfer w/ assisted hatching Nov 3, 2011 (11 days ago). I did a HPT yesterday and it was negative. Could that be wrong?  I am due for my blood test on Tuesday, Nov 15th. Is it bad that my HPT was negative?

hCG levels Tuesday were 1367 and Thursday 4490! The nurse again told me to be prepared to have more than one in there with numbers like this:)
I go Nov 30th for my 1st ultrasound.
I am a little confused on the timeline. They wanted my 1st ultrasound @ 6 1/2 wks preg. They say the calculate it by my egg retrieval date when doing an IVF cycle. Which was Oct 29th. Not sure how they get 6 1/2 wks between Oct 29th and Nov 30th. I questioned them a few times and they said yes they have calculated correctly. I guess I just don't understand the numbers....

Got my blood work back. :) it was positive:). They expected my numbers to be around 100 and they were over 1,000. Could mean twins as we transfered 2 very good embryos. I also saw online that it could mean a molar. My nurse told me to stop reading on line....I get more blood work Thursday and Monday. They say on Thursday my numbers should double or increase by at least 66%. Good Luck to you! This is my 2nd. My 1st son is 22 yrs old. A little spaced out huh?!

The bloodwork is a lot more sensitive and reliable than any HPT, so I would wait for your beta.  My thoughts and prayers are with you for a BFP tomorrow!

Hi Bluebird...I've done two rounds of IVF and used HPT's to test before my blood tests. In my case the HPT's were correct. However, another woman at my Md's office had a negative HPT but her bloodwork came back positive! It's just too hard to know for sure until you do the bloodwork. Good luck on Tuesday! My fingers are crossed for you!
