Metformin

When I went to my woman wellness exam I told my doctor that my husband and I were having a hard time conceiving and that I have always been irregular with my menstral. She put me on Metformin and my question's are What effect will this have on me and my body as I am not diabetic and  if I take this and get pregnant what effects may this drug have on the baby?

Hello!  I have been on metformin for fertility reasons for about six months or so now.. we got pregnant the first month on it, but miscarried : ( ... anyhow i have very mild PCOS and the difference has been amazing, my ovaries are much happier now, they produce better and more follies and my left one hasn't produced a follie for at least a year and now its working a little bit again (i had most of it removed during a surgery) and i think its thanks to the metformin!
as lori said, you can get a little bit of stomach cramping the first few weeks of use when you eat lots of carbs, and some people get diarrhea, but its all worth it if it might help right?   GOOD LUCK !!   oh and its safe during pregnancy!

They also use metformin if you have an insulin resistance. This will regulate that. If you have pcos they use metformin also. It can make you sick to your stomach if you eat alot of carbs.

But if it was not for metformin I would me ovulating. I have now ovulated 2 times and I am about to ovulate again( i feel it starting) it will happen within the next week.

I don't think it will have any side effects, I have been taking Metformin for a year now and I am currently 12 weeks pregnant THANKS to Metformin, injections and IUI...so I seriously doubt it gives any side effects!
