cost of donor eggs

Hey ladies.    I was looking at other post about this and they all seem to be really outdated.  My husband and I are going to have to use egg donor if we want to have childern.  I was wondering the cost of egg donor cycles. I want a heads up before going back to the dr.  Sticker shock might just scare the hubby.  Thanks

I think the biggest advantage to a donor refund program isn't the inital cost... it is the security of knowing that if it doesn't work, you get 100% of your $ back.  As a person who experienced a negative donor cycle.... that refund would mean the world!  I, personally, would not enter back into a donor cycle without a refund program.... but, that was my experience.  We are using donor embryos now, so hopefully we will not have to face that again.

I am just hoping we allllll get our bfp's!

Well I believe if I remember correctly plumber45 had posted an article about her appearance on the View talking all about it but I didn't get to see it.  The reason why my clinic was able to speak about it was because she already did and stated who she used.  You just have to do some research to find out about the donor programs out there and what is best for you.  Good luck to everyone!

I also wondered about Alexis Stewart and if she used donor eggs.. I dont think we'll ever know.It is not ethical for anyone from Alexis's clinic or anywhere else to state whether a certain patient used donor eggs and I dont believe anyone from a clinic would say that. Alexis would likely not admit it either and at this point it doesn't really matter. I do know Christie Brinkley used donors with her last child.  Alexis denied the whole surrogate story on her Facebook page when the NYPOST printed it. I also think she may have had a problem with her body and that could have been why she wasnt getting preg, along with her age and thats why she used a surrogate. Why waste good eggs if you've had nothing but BFN. MY RE says people can save money with donor eggs by sharing a cycle with another couple.. you use the same egg donor and split what is retrieved. Im not familiar with ATTAIN,,, to me it doesnt seem that much cheaper. My doc has quoted me a pretty good price on IVF if I go there. I am working hard to pay for it, being single and all. Infertility *****!!!!

I hope you get a BFP this time, so you don't even have to worry about it, but.....

You cannot "buy" donor eggs...  Alot of fertility clinics in the US have a donor pool you can pick from, or there are agencies you can pick a donor from, and "compensate" her for her time, travel, ect.
It's much cheaper to use the clinics donor pool then an agency.  about 5,000-10,000 dollar cheaper.
There are also alot of clinics that have shared risk programs which means if you use donor eggs, they will give you  X amount of tries (usually 6 fresh 6 frozen or 3 fresh unlimited frozen) and if you don't take a baby home they will refund 100% of your $$.

If you are considering coming to the US, there is a wonderful place called SHADY GROVE that works with out of country patients alot... you should contact them!

What I do find interesting is that surrogates are not allowed in NY.  I guess maybe the eggs were transferred elseware or she found a way around system with all the money they have (stewarts)  My friend is going to use surrogate  & has to leave NY.

Yep, surrogants aren't cheap.  I just remember reading an article stating she was devoting 20,000 a month towards fertilty.  I think surrogants run around 50,000-60.000 after all of the legal work and medical costs.... But, kudos for her for following her dream!  : )

What I heard was she spent 20,000 before coming to NHFC. The cost there is 5000.00 per cycle. Much cheaper than what I spent, but remember she's had many surrogates they had MC's not sure how many but I know she's trying for another one. She had 2 at 1 time. She is using Donor Sperm.

I heard that she used her own eggs too, and dedicated 20,000 a month towards fertility... geez, if only we could all do that!!!!!
Guess $ can buy just about anything.....

Hi Alexa Stewart used her own eggs and the reason she used a surrogate is because she only made 1-2 eggsvper cycle, so she calls herself the egg factory, she's been doing multiple cycles back to back and feels like the surrogate allows her to keep making eggs. I am currently awaiting my ER in about an hour, I'm 45 and have 11-12 follies.
Good luck and SSBD

Did Alexis Stewart use donor eggs?  There have been a few articles floating around including one in people & she made it sound really believable that she used her own eggs.  She also stated she is cycling every month still to this day hopeing to freeze multiple eggs so she can have another child....... I wonder

Hi,

I am in the process of working with the New Hope clinic in NYC.  I am using frozen donor eggs, which is less costly than a fresh cycle, however, there are no guarantees as many of the other clinics offer.  For $10K, you get 6 donor eggs.  They do guarantee that they make it to blast, if not, they will give you three additional eggs.  This is the same clinic where Martha Stewart's daughter used, however she used a surrogate to carry her donor eggs.  They do work with patients out of state, although, I know its difficult to do this out of your own state.  Just an option I thought I would let you know about.  SSBD!!

I see you are in MI. I would google Attain.com & look for a clinic in your area.  Some place advertise there price online.  I used donor eggs & am now 6 months pregnant with Twin Boys.  Actually, many of the woman on here that used DE are pregnant with Twins.
It can happen to you too, but it is costly.
If depends on what type of cycle you do as MHV said.  You can do a shared cycle when you share donors eggs with another couple.
Or- you can keep all eggs donor produces for yourself.  This is the route we choose.
We were lucky to get 20 eggs.  18 of them fertalized.  We transfered 2-- 5 day blasts.  We have 11 frozen.  IF you have anymore questions, drop me a line.

First off, I would look for a clinic that has a shared program.  That mean, they give you x(usually 3 to 6)  number of tries and if you don't get pregnant, they refund up to 100% of the money. This programs usually run around 25-30 thousand.  But again, usually 100% refundable!!!  There is a place in Maryland Shady Grove that has a wonderful program, and there is a company called Attain IVF that works with clinics around the US.

Donor cycles can be expensive 18,000(if you use a clinics donor-30,000(if you go to a donor agency) a cycle, and you might end up with someone who doesn't produce alot of eggs.

What state do you live in???

Good Luck : )
