Answering your comment about 20 weeks, yea, it SUCKED. It was an absolutely perfect pregnancy, no reason for any concerns, and then we went for our ultrasound, the tech shocked us with the news of no heartbeat. In our case, our baby had Turner syndrome, where the X chromosomes didn't form like they should have. She would have had some pretty bad problems if she would have survived, which is why she didn't.
Of course our next pregnancy (God willing) is going to be really scary, but our Dr says we have no reason to think this will ever happen again, just the unlucky 1%.
What you had was called a "missed miscarriage" when the baby dies earlier, but your body still registers as pregnant so you have no idea you have lost the baby. I just discovered my baby had died weeks earlier on Oct 10th. Anyway, I know this is not answering your question, but I am sorry for your loss. I understand.
Anyway, I have heard several stories from the ladies in this forum about getting pregnant right after miscarriage. So, it is certainly possible.
That said, when I took my first pregnancy test (and I was pregnant), it came out neg. When I took another one again a week later, it came out positive. I recommend taking it first thing in the morning for a more accurate read....good luck.
My baby's hb stopped at 12wks on Jan 3 and had d&c on the 4th. It took about 2wks for my Hcg to get back down then I o'd a week later. Af arrived 2wks after that. So all together it was about 5wks. I am sorry you are having to go through this.
I am so sorry for your loss! I've had a D&C in the past, and it took about a month for me to get my first period, but from what I've heard, it can take several weeks. It really depends on the person and the amount of HCG in your system.
That said, I must have ovulated a couple of weeks after my D&C (since I got my period two weeks after that), so it is possible that you could be pregnant again. I would wait another week, and if no AF, take another HPT...just in case :-)
D&C (dilation and curettage) is a procedure where the doctor goes through the cervix and scrapes out any remaining tissue from a miscarriage. It's usually performed when you have a missed abortion, which means the embryo/fetus has stopped developing, yet your body doesn't expel it naturally.
OMG, you lost your baby soo late? I was hoping that only few firstweeks are critical...
I also lost my baby on Oct 5th, but it was at 20 weeks, so I was induced and went through a labor & delivery rather than a D&C. I bled for 2 weeks after, and AF started Nov 5th. I'm not sure, but I think that it takes longer for your body to regulate after a D&C, so your schedule may just be a little off.
I guess I would take a HPT again in a few days if AF still hasn't shown up.
What is the D&C?
Thank you.
Did your doc say why u miscarrieged?
I had a D&C with my first miscarriage and it took me 6 weeks before my next cycle.
