irregular periods not ovulating?

hi i am 20 years old and i have been having problems since i was young with my periods. I started the depo provera almost two years ago but i was only on it for six months and my last shot was in september 2005. the doctors said it might be a year or so until my period become regular. I started getting them back last may 2006 and i had them right on time until september 2006, which was about 2 weeks late and then had my period on time in october. Then i didn't have it unitl febuary of this year and i haven't had it since. I have had blood test and many pregancy test done. I have unprotected sex everyday. Is this infertility?

If you've been trying to conceive, have regular intercourse, and it's been over a year then you could an infertility/fertility issue.

If you haven't been trying to conceive and your having unprotected sex you've been pretty lucky.

Are you trying to get pregnant...has it been over a year of regular intercourse?

You sound identical to me.  I have always had irregular periods but never realized it meant I would have a fertility issue- seems obvious now but when I was 19 and 20, I didn't care about it.  Around 21ish, I started seeing doctors to find out what was going on.  They put me on birth control pills. I was on them for about 14 months and had regular periods.  I stopped taking the pills a few months before I got married and the periods stopped too.  I have seen several doctors who never had an answer until I saw an endocrinologist.  He ran hormone levels on me and found that all of my hormone levels were normal but I had a timing issue- meaning the hormones weren't "firing" at the right times each month which means I wasn't ovulating.  According to the doc, my pituitary gland doesn't communicate with my ovaries very well.  Doctor has now put me on Clomid to get me to ovulate.  Always check with a doctor but yes- it sounds like you have a fertility issue.  2nd- if you are not getting periods fairly regularly, your doctor needs to induce them.  Going too long without periods increases your risk of uterine cancer and you don't want to play around with that.
