missing periods

I am a 43 year old woman. I have'nt had a period since march 2008, before that i had one heavy one, before that none for 5 months, before that, one heavy one, before that i was normal. I had a coil for a few years (not hormonal one), had it taken out as it hurt to have intercourse, have been trying for a baby for 2 years. Have had a blood test at doctors to test thyroid, iron etc. All normal. I have done a few of these myself and all were "not menopausal" results too. Have had a smear test. Had my eggs tested for their quality, came back "poor". Surely it's still possible for a few to be ok? Even if not, where have they gone? Why are they not coming out even if they're not so good quality? I am clutching at straws now, to first find a reason for my missing periods, could it be blocked fallopian tubes, could it be pcos?...My doctors are not really helpful but it makes me mad to be passed off because of my age! I hear all the time of people having children after having similar things happen to them. I want to do as much as i can to enable me to have a baby as natural as possible (no donor eggs). I am healthy, not over or under weight, exercise 3 times a week. Surely it's not right that my periods have stopped when i'm not menopausal. I have no other symptoms. What can i do now and is there anything else it can be that i can sort out???? Can anyone help?????

I have done a few FHS tests which showed i'm not menopausal. I had a new test to check the quality of my eggs which is done by a blood test and i had to pay for that (i'm in U.K. and normally the other stuff is done for free). There are 4 catagories that you can come into, the top two mean that they'll do IVF as the eggs are still good quality and can be taken out to do this but the bottom two catagories mean the eggs are poor (mine were the lowest being only 4%), so they won't consider doing IVF free as the chances of getting hold of a good one are so low. I'm not sure if it means all the eggs are poor or if that's the percentage  overall, so i could have the odd good one floating around. This is the thing that is giving me my last bit of hope. It was terrible to hear the initial news and i gave up hope but now i'm wondering if my lack of periods could be another reason and if i can get them started again i might release some. Miscarriage is high though they said, and i have had two in my life, years ago. It's so hard thinking i'm not going to have any as you just assume you will one day, but that"one day" is here and is rapidly passing. Thanks for asking, juliet

What tests did they do to tell you you have poor quality? I expect they did a day 3 panel including an FSH test. Do you know what your FSH level was?  When was the test done?

I'm so sorry, I don't have any answers for you, but I just wanted to say that I hope someone here is able to relate.  I'm sorry DRs keep dismissing you due to age.  I can only say that I hope you're able to get some answers and I'm here for you if you need anything (well, that I can help out with).
