unexplained infertility taking clomid 50m.

Does anyone know how much fertility specialists are suppose to monitor you while you are on clomid? I am taking it for the first time and having some unpleasant side effects-so I called the doc today and they said over the phone I am fine. I just wonder if they should be doing blood tests, ultra sounds etc. while you are on this medication. This cycle I took days 3-7 and today is day 10. I am feeling some abdominal discomfort, slight cramping and general pain in the area where I imagine my ovaries to be. I am 25, diagnosed with unexplained infert. My husband and I have been ttc for 3 years. Any advice help is greatly appreciated. Also everyone in my family tells me "stop trying so hard and you will get pregnant" how does one "stop trying, or thinking about it" and does this really help?

Thanks! I would describe my pain as a 6 out of 10...guess if it was bad it'd be like 10 out of 10...I am most likely over reacting...I am kinda a wuss about pain too...thanks again I really appreciate your feedback, your helping me relax a bit.

Sorry about the pain...sure it will be soon. Does your doc want you to test more towards nite so you can go in the next day? i remember testing first thing in the morning ( i have never had a positive o test!!! that is why i did a trigger shot to just make me drop my eggs.) in laws...fine...too much food (out to lunch w/ mom in law and din w/ both...kinda a "date" nite w/ a sitter and all!) and a little too much drinkie...(i haven't drank in so long!)
hope your ovaries will give you a break soon...but only after a successful drop of a great egg...:O)

Well you jump back on the horse and have some fun then! I know girls who would pay to have unprotected sex without the risk of getting pregnant lol! We should consider ourselves lucky to have the luxury! I think you may just get lucky too!! At least if you don't make a baby you will make love and keep your relationship and "spark' alive! Good for you:)

Sounds like O will be soon...good for you!!! Nothing for me a dh...because of the IVF (can't do it while in the process of it until get your results, we had a positive, then i felt like cr@p and it was such a roller coaster w/ my hcg levels not progressing like they should, etc...then the m/c at 9 wks...and it has now been 2 wks and i think i am about to "jump back on the horse"..tee..hee...but at least the pressure is of and our "doing it" is now for fun only, and not for baby making...we have pretty much been told that that is not going to happen (although it did happen once...but that was back when i was 27...so young...tee...hee!
later!

Ugh, it is awful. I hope O will be in a few days! I usually ovulate regularly but then again on the medicine who knows. Why the lack of it for you and your Dh? Baby making is a job and does kill the mood sometimes. I hope you get back on track too! Sex is suppose to be fun and healthy and I think everyone should be getting some, even if it hurts:( I will def. talk to my doc and get to the bottom of it. Thanks for your response.

oh...i am so sorry!!! wish i could tell you what the heck is going on! ask doc, but he/she will probably say it is ok, normal, etc...at least you got the job done (ugh...sounds so terrible! should that really be a "job!!??) pretty much doing it anymore for me (which, heck...can't even remember the last time!) is miserable...my poor dh...hope to get back on track sometime before I am too old to "do it"! keep it up, though. do you think your iui will be soon? sounds like it should be in the next few days. :O)

too funny! (not really...ya know what i mean!) didn't realize you were doing and iui (although i should have...i think you mentioned you had done one before!) that helps a lot! what does your doc think about a trigger shot (makes sure you drop your eggs)?? have a few glasses of wine (??) and maybe the "uncomfortable-ness" will go away!
Keep me posted...good luck to you and dh! :O)

I think O is coming too! I will test tomorrow as well. The doc says to do it as much as we want to for now and as soon as we get the positive OPK to stop and wait until after IUI to have sex. As soon as we get postivie OPk we go in the next morning for IUI which hopefully will happen in the next couple days:) I am in pain! Sucks that this is gonna last a few days. Its like I don't even want to have sex cuz i hurt...kinda kills the mood lol.

sounds like O is coming...you have all of the symptoms...def test tomorrow...the pain is for sure from the stimulation of your ovaries. With the clomid you are over producing eggs...normally you only drop one (maybe 2) and this month you will are stimulating your ovaries to produce more eggs (follicles) so that you ensure an egg dropping and meeting up w/ mr. spermy! So keep what you are doing! Did doc tell you when to meet up w/ dh? Are you supposed to wait until you get the positive or would it be ok to just do it to be sure? (can't remember since we were doing IUI's and it was all done in the office!) You really will feel crampy and achy for a while, though, til this cycle is done.

have an 8 yr old that was conceived after going to the doc and getting ready to start treatments (had taken 3 rounds of clomid prior w/ a regular physician w/ no success...not monitored at all...just prescribed it when told him we hadn't conceived after a year, no tests, nothing!) Then when our son was 2 ttc #2...nothing, nothing, nothing...so after all tests (b/w, sperm, looking at tubes) moved on to do 6 iui's...nothing...so then on to IVF...finding out my eggs were/are bad...did another round because i wanted to be SURE before we made our next decision. We then decided that we wanted another child badly, so the doc recommended donor eggs so as to be successful, my dh was ready the minute he said..i wasn't sure...but we did, and now have the most wonderful, beautiful 21 month old you could ever imagine (not that i am partial!) and we couldn't have him and how he is w/ any other combination!!! We kept all of this under wraps until all was said and done (since we had already experienced telling and going through what you mentioned) and our families are very supportive. We are now using our frozen embies, last FET ended up w/ a nine wk m/c, but now we have 3 more, will try again as soon as i go through another AF cycle..and if it doesn't work we will close this chapter in our lives. It has been quite the road...but we have two beautiful sons and we certainly are stronger, more appreciative people!

We did do the iui...although they really were hesitant. They did b/d (cked estogen, progesterone) to test levels, u/s to ck follices and make sure no cysts produced by clomid on my ovaries, ckd uterine lining (we also did a trigger shot to ensure the eggs dropping, we figured I wasn't ovulating and if was...not on a regular schedule... so the u/s monitored this rather than an ovulation test (OPK)). We just figured we hadn't gotten prego, so taking the chance was ok ( i was also feeling desperate!) but the multiples you see on programs/articles are not from IVF cycles, since those are way more easy to control (by putting in the embies). But lots of IUI's end up w/ one successful baby!

On the cycle w/5 follicles did you proceed w/IUI anyways? What type of monitoring did they do thru out the 5 days you were on clomid?

Hey...actually I forgot...did do clomid 3 yrs ago w/IUI's...our clinic monitors VERY carefully during this cycle w/ the clomid..they are really hesitant to do and IUI if they think more than 3 eggs will drop w/ the trigger shot or when ovulating. They really monitor the cycle w/ iui's and b/w even when just doing clomid. W/ IVF they can control multiples more than w/ IUI's, and our clinic really wants the mom and baby(ies..hopefully only 2 at most) to be healthy. So the one cycle that I had 5 follicles w/ the clomid they really were hesitant on doing the IUI.
