100% Abnormal Sperm Morphology

by DreamGirl0524, May 15, 2009 02:24PM
My husband and I have had 2 IUI's (BFN) and just completed our first IVF (also BFN).  To say the least we are tired and very discouraged.  I am wondering if anyone else has a husband with 100% abnormal morphology?  My husband has great count, motility and everything else - it is just the morphology that is affecting us.  I also want to know if anyone has gotten pregnant naturally with no meds with bad morphology.  I think we want to take 2-3 months off and then possibly do another IVF.  I just want to know if we should keep trying for a natural pregnancy for awhile.  We have been trying for exactly 1.5 years and are so ready for a little one!

First of all, I am so sorry.  I know how bad it *****.

My DH has OAT - 0 morph, low motility, low count.  Our RE said that while miracles do happen, we have zero chance of getting pregnant naturally and because of the morphology, we are doing IVF w/ICSI in July.  Did you do ICSI with your IVF #1?

We are also in the same boat...trying for a year and a half to have our first.  I am 32, DH is 34.  So far, we have a good prognosis with ICSI, but without it, we would need donor sperm.

Yes, we did ICSI with our IVF and our eggs fertilized great so I know you will have the same.  It is just so disheartening when your issue is a sperm issue, you get fertilization and then for some unknown reason, the eggs don't implant.  We are going to meet with our doctor next week to go everything and see if there is anything we can do differently.  Our clinic has a 60% success rate for women under 35 but he reminded me that means 40% don't acheive the pregnancy  - whether we know the reason or not.  I am just hoping IVF #2 will be a success.

Please keep me posted on how you do in July!  I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you!
