1st round of clomid

by Anna03, May 13, 2008 12:13PM
Hi everyone,
I am on my first round of comid. My dr. told me to take the clomid day 5-9 of my cycle and that I will ovulate day 14. Should I use the OV tests from the store on clomid?  I have heard that you could have false positives when on fertility drugs.

I on clomid to and use the ov kits. it is fine on clomid.  i did get preg but miscarried. you should also get a blood test done on day 21 to see how high your progstrone is. to see if you are ovalating.

Hello! I agree with Katie... OPK (ovulation predictor kits) are ok while on clomid.. it should still be accurate.. and defintley have your DR check your progesterone about 7 days after ovulation to make sure you did Ovulate! good luck!

Hi girls,
Thank you for the advise. A friend of mine also suggested I contact my Dr. for blood work if I am not pregnant on the first round. My Dr. gave me a 3 month supply clomid and said take these on day 5-9 and you should ovulate on day 14 if you are not pregnant in 3 months come back and see me.

I would suggest you using the ovulation kits.  Because even though they say you will ovulate on day 14, that may not be exactly right.  When I took clomid the first time I ovulated on day 18.

Just FYI, clomid can give you a false positive on an OPK if you use it too close to the last pill, but if you start testing on or after CD11 that shouldn't be a problem :-)

Also, I agree with love1221. You might not ovulate on CD14. I think they say you will ovulate within 10 days after you take your last pill. I normally ovulate on CD12 or 13, but on clomid I ovulated on CD15.

Best of luck to you!
