2nd round of clomid

Hi Everybody,
Well my first round of clomid (50mg) did not work very well. I did not O until the 26th day of my cycle. We tried but were not successful. My Doctor has not put me on 100mg of clomid.. Can some help me understand what the different dosages mean. is the 100mg supposed to make me ovulate sooner??? What is the average time given to try to conceive with clomid before trying other procedures? Has anyone had any luck with conceiving on the 2nd round of clomid??
