3day transfer sucess stories

by Hopeful2BPreggy, Jul 24, 2009 12:54PM
I just got very devastating news after my retrieval. I'm 27 very healthy and have no fetility issues of my own. We did IVF w/ ICSI and only got 7 eggs retrieved and only 3 fertilized. Now instead of a 5 day transfer we have to to 3 day if they make it. So if anyone has any sucess stories about your 3 day transfer I would really like to hear it!

Hi!  Don't worry too much about having a day 3 vs a day 5 transfer.  I am in a similar situation, I have no fertility issues of my own.  My husband is missing the vas deferens so they had to extract his lil guys with the TESA procedure.  We also did IVF with ICSI on 6/24 and got 19 eggs but only 5 fertilized.  We got a call the next day 6/25 saying that things looked great and we were all set for a day 5 transfer and that the doctor would call on 6/26 and set up an appointment for the transfer.  The next call I received was on 6/26 which was supposed to be to set up my day 5, the doctor advised that we only had 2 really good looking embryos to transfer and they wanted to do the transfer that very day (which was day3).  I was very nervous and worried myself but hubby told me that everything was going to be ok.  I called the acupuncturist on site and did a session before and after the retrieval.  I had my first beta on 7/8 which was 581 and from what I hear is great.  Had my second beta on 7/10, 1181 and my first u/s will be this next Tuesday, 7/28.  :)  Keep positive thoughts and try not to stress too much.

When is your transfer?

Goodluck and lots of sticky baby dust to you!!

Hello!  I’m new to this board, but going thru a similar situation.  I'm 34 and have been trying to have a baby for a while now.  Six IUIs, Laparoscopy and now IVF.  I did my first IVF with ICSI during the month of June.  I was so excited at first and did everything my MD asked.  When it was time to retrieve we only had 3 eggs to extract.  Boy was I disappointed.  After the retrieval my MD advised me that only 1 egg was retrieved not three.  My hopes were all gone.  Then I got a call the following morning and found out that my one egg was successfully fertilized.  I did a 3 day transfer with an 8 cell, grade 4 embryo.  I’ve had some breast tenderness, bloating and have been tired.  However it’s going away.  On 7/27 I will be doing my first beta test.  Although my IVF cycle is not ideal is the one I was dealt.  I am keeping my hopes and spirits up.  The best thing to do is keep a positive attitude and not stress.  I’ve been doing research on the internet and the success rates of a 3 day vs. a 5 day transfer are the same.  No worries there.  Good Luck!!

Thanks for your stories! My transfer is tomorrow and I am trying just not to think about all the if's right now. I just felt the whole time that this cycle was different and that we would get better results than last time and instead we got worse. Good luck ladies I hope your babies stick and grow!!!

I had a day 3 transfer and now have a happy little girl.  The biggest difference between day 3 and 5 is that at day 3 they transfer 3 embryos but typically only 2 blasts on day 5.

Good luck to you guys!
