6 weeks after d&c

by forevermissed, Jul 09, 2007 12:00AM
I had my second miscarriage six weeks ago and had a d&c.  I am worried now.  I have been having period like cramping, I feel swollen in the pelvic area too.  I was told it is just my body adjusting but it just doesn't feel right.  I haven't had my period yet, still waiting... I also occasionally have this discharge that is clear or sometimes light yellow with no odor.  I am just so nervous.  I have had three d&c's in the past year.  My first miscarriage was last fall with a d&c in Oct.  I had to have a second d&c in Jan. for missed tissue.  We found out we were pg again in April and miscarried in May which resulted in a third d&c.  My levels did finally drop last week. I just want this to end so that we can move on.  I go to the dr today for more testing and a fertility specialist next week to find out some of our options.  Has anyone else experienced the cramping while waiting for their period?  How long does it normally take?
Thanks,
A~

So sorry to hear about all you've been through.  So many of us have been through way too much.  Hang in there.
Since your levels dropped just last week, it could be that you are ovulating.  If that's the case your period could begin in about 14 days, if that's how long your luteal phase is.  It might be different though because this is the first af after a d&c.  You can usually expect af within a couple of weeks of your levels dropping.

I am sorry that you have to go through this.  I had a mc with D&C too.  The cramps that I had only last for 2 weeks after D&C.  But it took me 4 months with help of medication to start my period and then it became irregular.  I had to rely on clomid for ovulation since then.  I hope your cramps will disappear soon and have your af soonest.  Hang in there and don't give up, ok?  ((((hugs))))

Thanks so much!! I was able to get the testing ran with this past miscarriage.  Since, I had three d&c's they were able to say it was three miscarriages and run the tests.  They did find that I tested pos for 1 strand of MTHFR.  The fetus chromosome testing came back normal.  I am sure that we will be able to work up a game plan and be ready to ttc again.  I think we are going to take a break until the fall sometime.  I am not giving up hope.  It was so easy for us to get pg the past two times.  I am so nervous now after all of these surgical procedures that we are going to have trouble conceiving.  Hopefully, it won't be.  What is so frustrating is they tell you have a d&c and it will be over faster.  Well, for me I have had the year of ****.  I am so ready to have a little bit of normalcy.  Thanks for listening!!
Good luck to everyone!

You know, they said the same thing to me about having a d&c and it would be over quicker.  Yeah right.  It seems to drag on even worse.  At the very least, you get pregnant easily and that is a blessing.  I'm at four m/c but I do get pregnant easily and that allows us to have more chances, I think. Even if I can't keep them, I know it's possible and I will one day.

I could have written your post. I just had the same thing happen to me this summer.
Just wondering how you are doing after your 3rd D&C? Hope all is well.
