APS

I'm 35 y/o and in need of advise. I have had 8 miscarriages in the past 14 years. I have had 2 successful pregnancies before the miscarriages. I had 3 miscarriages and all dr. were telling me not to worry, that I was young and would be able to have more children. After miscarriage number 5, I begged them to please do test. At first, they said my progesterone was low. Did the progesterone and still had miscarriage. Then they told me I was a Thrombophilia with APS. They tested twice to confirm. Abnormal levels of anticardiolipin and beta glycoprotein. I was then on baby aspirin & progesterone and still miscarried. Then on the last one, I was put on aspirin, progesterone and Lovenox inj. and still had a miscarriage. I also have low folic acid levels and high cholesterol. Has anyone out there had a successful pregnancy with APS??? Thank you all.

OMG, I'm just so sorry for all you've been through!! I have a small clotting disorder that I just found out with this pregnancy ( this is our 3rd) and am taking baby aspirin and extra folic acid that my doctor prescribed to me because of it. I don't know how severe my levels are, but my baby is doing great! We're almost 25 weeks now! I don't even know what to say, has the doctor recommended doing something else to help once you get pregnant again? I can only imagine how heartbreaking and frustrating this is for you! :(

Hello,
I'm so sorry to hear about your multiple miscarriages.  I've had several losses and had a full workup at the fertility clinic over this past winter.  I, too, have discovered that I have anticardiolipin antibodies - specifically, IGG and protein C - that my RE says may contribute to APS and may have contributed to my losses.

My RE is extremely negative about my chances because of my age but I won't go into that here.  He has been monitoring my cycle and has prescribed daily baby aspirin, daily progesterone supplements and daily fragmin injections at 2500 ml (blood thinning injections).  (I believe fragmin is the same as heparin, so it sounds like you are on the same protocol).

My RE prescribes the fragmin and progesterone as soon as I've ovulated. Is this what your Dr. has also done?  I am currently pregnant and praying to see a heartbeat this Wednesday.

Good luck.
