Anyone else starting their first round of Clomid this week?

Hello All. Today was my CD3 trip to the MD so they could draw my blood, do an u/s and get me the Clomid. I will be taking 100mg on CD5-9. Anyone else new to Clomid or want to share thoughts, concerns and ideas? I'm looking for a possible Clomid buddy to get through this cycle with... Thanks and good luck!

Hello. I might be starting at the beginning of next week. I have the PMS symptoms, so I do not think the last round of TTC worked. I will know for sure in a couple of days. I have a prescription for 50 mg of Clomid for CD5-9. I have been looking online trying to get as much info as possible. The side effects do not seem too bad. Do you know how many mature follicles are typically produced?  My doctor said our success rate taking Clomid + IUI would be about 15%. That seems low to me. I read something online that said if 3-4 follicles are produced then the rate goes up to ~25%. But on the discussion boards, everyone seems to produce 1 or 2. We have unexplained infertility and this will be the first round of treatment. Good luck!

Good Luck!  I am starting clomid, but it is so far from my first time...maybe 12th or so.

I am surprised they are starting you on 100mg your first time.  They usually want to start you on the lowest dose first.

Everyone is different...but I usually have stronger pains during ovulation and during my period.  Usually my bb are super sore, but last month they weren't sore at all, so I don't know what that meant.  Last month I got nauseous with the meds, I think, so I took them in the morning so I could manage it throughout the day.  That was a first time thing, so I don't know if that was related.  I usually get mood swings too.  It sounds bad, but it really isn't that bad.  I would suggest ordering preseed though.  Clomid tends to dry your cervical mucus out and the preseed will help alot.

Good Luck!

Hello and thanks! Docsaf we can use each other to compare notes as we go down our first-time-Clomid-road and texasangel343 your knowledge is greatly appreciated and welcomed! I am on what my doctor is calling the Clomid Challenge and it starts out at 100mg, I was surprised as well, but honestly, I welcome it. Docsaf I am not sure about the follicle count, but I will look through the packet I got yesterday and let you know what I can find out. Texasangel343 I haven't had a chance to look at your profile yet, but have you had any success with the Clomid since this is your 12th or so round? I was told that I can't stay on it for more then 6 months at a time. The plan is 3 months with just Clomid, then 3 months with Clomid and IUI. Then we try something else. The doctor told me to expect hot flashes, nausea, and mood swings with Clomid. I also just ordered my first bottle of preseed!! :)  Thank you for the advice. I already have lubrication problems, so this was a great idea! Thanks again! And super good luck to all!!

I have been on Clomid like some others for many ...many months and yes i have gotten pregnant on it 2 times but i miscarriaged with both (nothing to do with Clomid) my progestrone level wasnt going up with the pregnancies so i lost them....Im on 100mg and i take it CD 5-9 also.....tomorrow 3-2-2009 is CD 9 so last pills this month....the only side effect i have is around CD 18 i get the sore boobs....and sometimes i get hot flashes other than that i dont have any...you can message me anytime if you would like i can answer questions for you......Oh and i always have 2-4 follicles but then again everyone is different.....Good luck to you all ....I go to the doctor on 3-9-2009 to make sure the Clomid hasnt thinned out the lining in my Uterus and to possable talk about the IUI....Here in NC it is $ 344.00 up front cost for the IUI...
