Anyone with Factor II, Prothrombin Mutation and have a healthy baby?
I was diagnosed with this after my 3rd m/c last year. I do have a healthy dd from 2 yrs ago and no problems with conception, pregnancy….birth with her.
I’ve read conflicting reports saying, yes this can effect early m/c and no it does not.
Well after what I read, I believe it did effect me….but here’s my problem.
Dr said not to take aspirin prior to conceiving….wait until pregnancy is confirmed and then she’ll start early blood thinners….she said typically they don’t start until about 10-12 weeks but because all my losses were around 6 weeks….she’ll start as prescription as early as 5 weeks….
Here is my problem….I read on the internet they typically start prescription once fetal heart activity has been detected. Well in my last 3 pregnancies…it was never there.
1st natural m/c at 5.5 weeks
2nd natural m/c at 6 weeks
3rd m/c with d&e at 8.5 weeks…no hb at 6wk, 7wk or 8 wk u/s
So now what? I’ve also read that taking aspirin during the time of conception could be bad? Even if you need it…
I hate the internet sometimes….to many opinions and theories….but I TRUST YOU LADIES….AND NEED YOUR ADVICE

However, I've realized it's ok to do some research yourself and be educated about your treatment, but you really need to find a doctor you trust and listen to him/her. It's ok to ask them these questions you have, but then listen to them. I'm not really one to talk, but I'm working on that!
I know for some people, aspirin works wonders when they have that complication. Where your miscarriages close together or far apart? I just had a miscarriage only 3 months after my first one, and I swear it's because I got pregnant too soon, but I really don't know. I pray that God will give you the gift of a baby very soon, from reading all your posts you sound like such a sweet person, someone who makes a great mother.
I just need to keep believing that and know that I will be blessed again. And I also am very very grateful for the gift of my dd...she is wonderful and so spirited....love every second I have with her...even the challenging ones...she is 2!
Anyway, I'm not sure about getting pregnant to early....here is my rundown...
1st m/c - Conceived on the mini-pill....Feb 15th, stopped pill on Feb 20th due to feeling I was pregnant....confirmed pregnancy on Feb 27th, started bleeding Mar 5th. Blood tested Mar 6th, hcg at 69...two days later it was 21.....not good.
Then I stayed off the pill and decided to try again in June
2nd m/c - Conceived around June 12th....had bad cramps,back cramping for three days beginning July 4th...started bleeding July 7th, didn't go for blood work as I knew what was happening again.....I quickly got my AF on August 2nd
3rd m/c - Conceived around August 16th-19th and all seemed wonderful (hcg was doubling in the beginning..almost 2.5%)...no cramps no bleeding, until the 6th week u/s...no confirmed fetal pole or hb...but yolk sac identified and what appeared to be embreyo. Repeat u/s at 7weeks...still no hb, yolk sac still seen and larger embreyo....Repeat u/s at 8 week....still no hb and now appears to be mass of something attached to baby or behind it (blood or fluid)??? they were not sure.
HCG at 8 weeks was 42000 and only rose to 45000 at day of d&e which was 2 days later....I agreed to the d&e...testing of embreyo after the d&e prooved all chromosomes were normal.....and it was a little girl.
If you or anyone has insight to my condition and my patter of loss....I'd love to hear it.
To answer your first question, I was diagnosed with Factor II at about 4 months pregnant with my second daughter. I was told to take heparin and baby aspirin through out the rest of the pregnancy. I had a high risk pregnancy, with ultrasounds about every 2 weeks until my last trimester, and then 2x per week until delivery to check for blood clots in the cord and placenta. My daughter was born healthy and the delivery was smooth.
My first delivery (before diagnosis) did not go smoothly. I almost bleed out after delivery. The baby was entirely healthy. I lost consciousness 5 minutes after giving birth and had to be given 5 blood transfusions over a period of 4 days. In the first 24 hours, the doctors and nurses were telling my family they weren't sure I would make it.
Since my second daughter's birth in 2003 I have had two miscarriages. I stopped taking all meds including aspirin in 2003.
I hope I was able to answers your questions. This Factor II is such an unknown, isn't it?

For this mutation you should get Clexane and maybe also baby aspirin.
I delivered my 3rd baby at 33 weeks when he was not moving and heart rate was not good. 10 mins of CPR and epinephine directly to his heart and 3 weeks in the NICU he is now a healthy 4 1/2 year old. Placenta Pathology report showed a large blood clot in the placenta- he was being deprived of the blood supply. OB DR said these things happen. 2 years later I saw hematologist and discussed this with her and she ran some test that showed I do have Factor II Prothombine Mutation. She told me that I should not try to have any more babies because I had 3 healthy children that needed me. I agreed, but 1 year later I was 1 week late and found out I was unexpectly pregnant! I was scared and worried about what would happen. I was started on Lovenox around 10 weeks once a day and also a baby asprin once a day. First pregnancy that I never developed high blood pressure or protein in urine. At 37 weeks I switched to heparin twice a day to prepare for my c-section at 39 weeks. My baby girl decided she would come at 38 weeks. The surgery went just fine, I was able to wait until the heparin was out of my system so there would be no extra bleeding. I continued to take lovenox for 6 weeks and now have a beautiful 12 week old baby girl.
It is scary to go through 9 months on blood thinners and worry each day if you might have a blood clot that would cause harm to yourself or a baby. But it is possible.
